A native of Paducah, Kentucky, Kent graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown College where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in American Studies and received the Dean’s Honor Award. He earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School. He is a member and past president of the McCracken County Bar Association and is also a member of the Kentucky and American Bar Associations. Kent’s legal practice focuses primarily on representing municipal electric utilities, handling residential and commercial real estate transactions, and assisting clients in probate and estate planning matters. He presently serves as president of the Market House Theatre, trustee of the McCracken County Law Library and treasurer of the Troop 1 Committee, Lincoln Heritage Council, of the Boy Scouts of America. Kent is a past president and board member of both the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County and Paducah-McCracken County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. He was recognized as Outstanding Alumnus of Leadership Paducah in 2004 and is a member and past director of the Paducah Lions Club. Kent previously served on the board of directors of an area bank and the Leadership Paducah Foundation. He has also been a church deacon, elder and trustee.
